About Slabr
We build for builders.
Slabr is the operating system for custom manufacturing businesses — shaped around the real operating pressure of Minimaal en Mooi Houtwerke, a Cape Town fabrication business managing quotes, production, client updates, invoices and delivery. Built from inside the quote-to-install problem.
Origin
Built from inside the quote-to-install problem.
Custom fabrication is brutal. Quotes in spreadsheets, jobs on whiteboards, status in WhatsApp. Slabr was shaped around that reality at Minimaal en Mooi Houtwerke and built into the operating layer the team wished existed.
Slabr was shaped around the real operating pressure of Minimaal en Mooi Houtwerke, a custom fabrication business managing quotes, production, client updates, invoices and delivery. The first version was a pricing engine for one trade.
Quoting alone wasn't enough — the floor needed visibility too. Stage tracking, QC checkpoints and the first version of the client portal landed next.
More trades, more modules. Inventory foundations, procurement workflows, finance and intelligence. Slabr stopped being one tool and started becoming the system the shop runs on.
Built around one job record. Phase 1 tenant isolation hardened. Phase 1.5 canonical job spine in flight. Early access teams help shape what Slabr becomes next.
Principles
Four things we live by.
These aren't values on a poster. They show up in code reviews, customer calls, and how we hire.
Closed-loop thinking
Cause leads to action; action leads to outcome; outcome leads to insight. Modules feed each other. We don't build silos.Operator empathy first
Built by people who've run shops, walked floors, lost margin to bad quotes. Every assumption gets pressure-tested against reality, not theory.Customer-honest
We tell customers when we don't have a feature. We tell each other when something's broken. Trust compounds; spin doesn't.Built in South Africa, used worldwide
Built for the realities of running a custom fabrication business.
Slabr was designed by people who have run shops, not by a SaaS team writing for shops. The product fits how custom fabrication actually works — wherever you operate.
Built in workshops
Slabr was designed in real shops, not boardrooms. Every module started with shadowing an operator for a week.Global by default, deep where it matters
USD pricing, locale-aware tax (VAT / GST / sales tax), GDPR/POPIA-aligned data. SA tenants get full SARS, ZAR and load-shedding-aware support.Cape Town team, customers worldwide
Operations team based in Cape Town with customers across South Africa and rolling out to fabricators globally. How Slabr works
Not separate tools. One connected system.
Same architecture as the homepage shows: every module writes to one job record. Every closed job feeds the next quote. The loop closes.
