Definition
Sign-off is the captured client acknowledgement that the install meets specification. It is timestamped, ideally digital, and forms the formal boundary between snag-list resolution (install scope) and warranty matters (post-handover). Without a recorded sign-off, this boundary is ambiguous and disputes follow.
Example
Worked exampleAfter install, the client reviews the work, agrees the snag list, and signs digitally on the install lead's tablet. Slabr captures the timestamp, location, and signatory. Any defect raised after this point falls under warranty, not install scope.
Why it matters
The single biggest protection against scope creep on installed work is a clear sign-off boundary. Clients who sign off and later raise warranty claims are entitled to warranty resolution; those who haven't signed off are still in install scope.
