Definition
A snag list is the formal record of remaining work needed at install. Snags are typically captured by the install lead in collaboration with the client, prioritised, owned, and time-bound. Each snag has a description, photo, priority and target resolution date. Snags must be tracked separately from warranty matters that arise after sign-off.
Example
Worked exampleDuring a kitchen install, the client notices a drawer slide is binding (P1 critical), a finish has a small mark (P3 cosmetic), and a soft-close mechanism is missing on one door (P2 functional). All three are logged on the portal with photos. P1 is fixed before the crew leaves.
Why it matters
Without a structured snag list, customer-perceived defects accumulate as informal complaints. Disputes about whether an issue was install or warranty become hard to resolve. A timestamped snag list with priority and photos is the single most effective tool for clean closeouts.
